Birthday Poem

It's the day after my birthday
Don't know if I feel young or
old
Life is not quite as expected
And my writing has yet to be
sold.
Champagne has certainly
helped
Quench existential ills
But now it's back to two for a
fiver
And trying to think up new
skills.
I hope this year I'll be better
At being able to see what I've
got
Instead of the bitching and
griping
About all of the things that I'm
not.
I have a very bad habit
Of turning small rocks into
boulders
But today have overcome this
By really enjoying my boiled
eggs and soldiers.
