Disconnection

hello?

hello, who's that?

this is God, am I speaking to Man?

yes you are, this is Man, can I help?

I'm calling about the home I lent you.

oh Earth, oh yeah, it's good, it's great.

mind you, we're starting to get quite low on things.

okay, Man, stop and listen,

just stop            and listen.

hear it? that's

the slap of Earth licking its wounds

on alternate beats, backed by the

final toxic heave of a requiem shark

and the one-way cooing of a mourning dove

lost in the invisible shroud

of your own waste.

stop and inhale the comfrey, marjoram and thyme

through the vapour trail of progress.

Man, this is no longer my Eden.

beneath the rag-wick slick

the Euphrates runs red

in memory of my dream.

are you listening, Man? Man?

the other person has disconnected,

please try again later, the other person has disconnected,

please try again later...
