With a knife,

A youth carves on a budding tree

PB loves JD

And this within a deep cut heart,

Pierced with Cupid’s deadly dart.

 

But as the months wax and wane,

And summer comes around again,

All the icy winds that blew,

Have cracked the bark, and heart, in two.
